The New Covenant

Based on II Corinthians 2:14-4:11

Read all of the verses first. Then go back and discuss the following points.

Ch. 2 vs. 14-17 Victory Through Christ

During the Roman Empire, if a General would return victorious, the person in authority would have the conquerors prisoners paraded as visible trophies of victory down the streets of the city. In the same way, God leads us in Christ’s victory parade. We are His visible trophies reflecting His victory.

· WE BOAST OF HIS VICTORY IN ALL WE SAY AND DO!

Let’s speak with sincerity in the presents of the VICTOR and KING (which is all the time).

Ch. 3 vs. 1-6 Servants of the New Covenant

	OLD COVENANT	NEW COVENANT
PARTNERS	The Lord and Israel	Christ Jesus and those Baptized into His body.
TOKEN/SIGN	The Sabbath restored	Christ’s body and blood.
TYPE OF COVENANT	Conditional	Promissory
PROMISE	The perfect rest of Sabbath shall be resorted	Given and shed for you FREE!!
DURATION	Our Lord’s death and resurrection	Till our Lord comes in glory.

· The terms of the “Old Covenant” were, OBEY and LIVE:

“If a man do, he shall even live in them;” but “cursed by he that confirmed not all the words of this law to do them.” ( Matt. 5:48 – you must be PERFECT).

· The “New covenant” was established upon “better promises” – the promise of forgiveness of sins, and of GRACE, of God to renew the heart, and bring it into harmony with the principles of God’s law.

“This shall be the covenant that I shall make with the house of Israel: after those days says the Lord, I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts … I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
(Eze. 20:11, Lev. 18:5, Deut. 27:26, Jer. 31:33,34 KJV.)
